Hayrides and Pumpkins
Yesterday we spent the afternoon at Lenvilla Orchards. It was Evan and Eliana's first ever hayride. The place was jam packed because the weather's been so nice lately. Not sure how they felt about the hayride, it was loud and dusty since we were right behind the tractor. They loved the mini-train ride though, Eliana had a blast and was laughing the whole time. Then we went to pick out pumpkins and pose for pictures.

Dispatches From the Road - Flight 93 Memorial - Somerset, PA
On my way back from Pittsburgh, I paid my respects at the Flight 93 9/11 Memorial in Somerset, PA. It's something I've been wanting to do for 9 years now, and today, I finally made it there. The temporary memorial is located in a building that was used by a surface coal mining company. Inside, the story of Flight 93 is laid out, and the photos and names of the 37 victims are displayed. I took a moment to read each name, and study their face. I tried to imagine what they were like. I quietly wanted to let them know that they weren't forgotten. I was surprised at how emotional I became. I had a lump in my throat and had to fight back tears thinking about them, and what they must have experienced in those final moments. The permanent memorial is expected to be completed in 2014.

Yo Gabba Gabba!
It was completely last minute, but one of Genevieve's friends from work came through for us and got us "Yo Gabba Gabba Live!" tickets in Hershey, PA last night. It's a good thing I was on my way home from New York, otherwise I would have missed it completely. I had just about enough time to wash up before heading right back out the door for the 2 hour ride to Hershey. Eliana couldn't make it, because we've all been sick lately, and didn't want to chance taking her out. Evan had the time of his life. After watching the show, we had "Meet and Greet" tickets where Evan got to meet the Yo Gabba Gabba gang, DJ Lance Rock, and Biz Markee. Everyone from the tour was so kind, and DJ Lance and Biz were really great with the kids. Evan got his picture taken with the all the characters from the show, as well as DJ Lance, and Biz. (He does "Biz's Beat of the Day" on the show where he teaches kids how to Beat Box) Big thanks to the touring staff who were so kind and patient. I have some great video of Evan at the show that I'll post later...

iPhone 4 Fun
Instant communication. Texting. It's what the world's all about these days. The great thing about having iPhones for Genevieve and I is not only being able to text back and forth, but being able to send photos of the kids instantly. Especially if I'm at work in New York, or if I'm home watching the kids and Genevieve is at work, or, if I'm just out at the store. The great thing about being able to take and send the photos instantly, is that you find yourself taking a lot of photos you might otherwise not think of taking, and the results can be fun. There's no formality, just take a quick pic of what's happening at that moment, and send it off.
At a Children's Sale - Genevieve: Is this a left handed glove?
While Daddy's at the Supermarket, Mommy makes a list, and Evan checks the fridge to see if we need anything...
Mommy's at work and says, "Give Evan a big hug for me."
Mommy texts me wondering what Evan's doing...
