Father's Day

I couldn't ask for more.

I got to spend the entire day with my son on Father's Day. I know he doesn't realize it yet, but it meant the world to me. I feel as though I've waited my whole life for this. Ever since I was a kid, I wondered what I'd say to my son, and how I'd explain the world to him, now is my chance. I want to make the most of it, everyday. I want to be the best dad I can possibly be. Tonight, while holding him on the couch, he laid his head down on me, and I felt complete. For the first time in a long time I felt peace in my heart. I hope that we are always this close. I have a feeling we will be...

A third first birthday party

So, my Mom found out that the Acme gives free birthday cakes to anyone who is turning one! Hey, we know someone that is turning one! Well, he turned one, but hey, it's free cake! What's the harm in singing happy birthday one more time? I think he's gotten the hang of it now, as you can see from the photos. He loved the cake, or should I say icing.

Evan found out today that he can spin! He has been surprising us, and himself with all of the new tricks he is picking up! Last week he started walking backwards! He thinks this is sooo funny. He also has been putting his head on the floor as if he's about to tumble but never flips over (yet), and just recently while his head is on the floor, his tush up in the air, he will lift up a leg and a hand- tadah! Amazing! He is so cute. He'll make sure to do this right in front of you so that you don't miss this amazing trick! He sees someone do something like Pop Pop walking backwards or watching Natalie and Emma tumbling, and tries to copy it or it's just purely by accident, like almost tripping and then saving himself at the last minute, I'm not sure, but we are so proud of him. And you can tell by the funny smile on his face he is proud of himself too.

Evan at 1 Year

Ladies and Gentlemen, Evan Austin at 1 Year Old. Definitely not the easiest photo shoot. Evan has less and less time for Daddy's silly photo shoots. It's usually not long before he's protesting, squirming out of his Bumbo Seat, and writhing on the ground, but we managed to get a few good ones off before Evan declared he was done.
