Snow

We had a little snow tonight. About an inch. Did I mention it's about 17 degrees? It's supposed to go down to 12. Looking forward to tomorrow when the forecast is calling for sunny and 28! Better get my sunblock.

Poppop's Birthday

Cute video of Evan singing Happy Birthday. He was way more interested in blowing out the candles...

***I had to change the blog template to accommodate the width of HD video clips.***

Today With Evan

Meet Cameron

Meet Evan's new friend, Cameron. Cameron is a model and actress in Hollywood. Evan saw her for the first time in Women's Health Magazine and I think he may be in love. He at first expressed surprise at the fact that she isn't wearing pants, which he was quick to point out, but then I wonder if he thinks she's wearing a diaper, just like him, only a prettier one.

When I got home from New York today, Evan was eager to show me her picture. He pointed to her and smiled and said "Dada!" Needless to say, he was smitten. Genevieve and I went on talking as Evan was quietly playing with the magazine on the floor. That's when we heard him tear the page out. "Dada!" Evan said proudly as he held up the torn out page with the image of the object of his affections on it. I was actually impressed at what a clean tear he was able to make. I said, "Evan, what are you going to do with that, put it in your crib?" (jokingly.) "Yeah" said Evan, directing me towards the stairs. Evan started climbing the stairs and didn't even look back to see if I was following him. He ran in his room and started pointing at his crib. "Dada! Dada!"

.
Like any good dad, I looked around the room for some tape. All I could find was a little sticker. Evan motioned me to pick him up and put him in the crib. "Where do you want me to put it, Evan?" I asked. "Is here okay?" Evan nodded with approval, and there was Cameron, hanging up like a pinup in my 19 month old son's crib. Evan gathered his plush Mickey Mouse and blanket, and laid on his tummy with his head in his hands, just looking up at Cameron. Yes, I have since taken the photo down from his crib. Perhaps I'll get him a frame for it.

Legos

So, I don't have the iPhone or any other 'smart phone' yet, but I will say I was impressed by the 'app' that Lego has for the iPhone. You take any photo, and it converts it into how it would look in the form of Legos. The only thing they don't have is the ability for you to buy the pieces and actually construct the pictures, which would of course be pretty cool. This is from Uncle Ted's iPhone.

Late Nite With Evan

Look at him hold that note! He doesn't know how to play yet, but I think he gets it.

Evan singing and playing guitar tonight.

Great finish to a song, waits for applause.

He's definitely got the posing down.

Evan with Daddy & Mommy.

Evan played so hard tonight, he actually broke a string.

Skyscraper

I think daddy has more fun with the giant Legos than Evan. Tonight we built a 2,500 ft skyscraper right in the living room. Perhaps most interesting is that it was built on top of a barn. Sadly, the building tumbled to the ground since it was not structurally sound.

Evan's Getting So BIG

Evan is becoming a big boy right before our eyes. When I pick him up now, he's noticeably heavier. He also just seems taller, bigger, more mature. He's starting to put more and more words together. He's getting really adept at figuring things out on his own. He understands almost everything you say to him, so I know all of those words are rattling around in his head, just waiting to come out. Most recently, you ask him a question, say, "Evan, you want some apple juice?" and while he's thinking about he goes, "ummmmm" and then gives you his answer.

We haven't been outside as much because the weather's been pretty cold. So most days, he winds up watching a little more TV than we'd like. It's not like we just prop him up in front of the TV and leave the room. I mean, we're constantly interacting with him, it just stinks that he's stuck inside most days since it's so cold out. There's no doubt what is favorite show is, "Yo Gabba Gabba." The second DJ Lance Rock enters the right side of the TV screen, Evan lights up with joy! Actually, I think Mommy and Daddy enjoy the show too, but, we're really looking forward to warmer weather so we can go outside and play!

The Countdown Begins

Well, actually, the countdown began in June, but we're starting to make more urgent preparations for the arrival of our little girl, currently scheduled for February 16th. With a little over 3 weeks to go, Genevieve's already been having some minor contractions, so we have our checklist for the hospital already made up, and we're going to be painting the baby's room this week, getting the crib all ready, and doing all the final preps for our baby's arrival. I think we're all but settled on a name at this point. Now, we're just waiting for her arrival...

Daddy's New Gig

Sunnyside House from Pete Burke on Vimeo.

So this is what I've been up to lately. Shooting video 'fly throughs' for a real estate co. down in the Philadelphia area. Hopefully, the videos will get better and even more professional looking as time goes on. Check it out, let me know what you think...

On a more serious note, the earthquake in Haiti has been on all of our minds. The images coming out of that country are of unimaginable human suffering. In addition to the extraordinary death toll, an epic humanitarian crisis is unfolding as we speak. Needless to say they need all the help they can get.

Busy Day!

It's 11PM and Evan has just, only now, gone to bed. Evan had a long day today. He went to his friend Hope's 6th birthday party, and later went to visit his cousins, Mikey and Louie, where he got more Christmas presents! They all had a really good time playing together. You think he'd be tired. He was up running around until 11 o'clock tonight.

Strangely enough, Evan's first time in a ball pit was also
Daddy's first time in a ball pit.

Going down the slide, lookout!

Molly and Evan enjoying some pizza.

Evan always has a good time at parties.

Hope, the Birthday Girl. She turned 6 years old today.

It Was Supposed to be Bedtime!

I'm not ready for bed yet.

I don't want to brush my teeth.

Ok, I'll brush my teeth now.

Evan playing piano before bedtime.

"Evan, get down!"

Mommy, 8 Months...

This baby is ready...she's kicking like crazy and staying up all night! With a little over a month to go, we're scrambling to try and get everything ready. We've been trying to let Evan know he's going to have a little sister in a few short weeks, but I'm sure he doesn't quite grasp the idea yet. Although he did kiss Mommy's belly today, so maybe he has some idea. We've been talking about names, and I think we're close to deciding baby's name. Of course, we're not telling anyone until February 16th, unless she decides to arrive sooner, but I think she'll be happy with the name we've picked for her.

Rockin' Out!

Evan decided to show off some of his rock star poses during his 19 month photo shoot. We did not tell him to do any of these poses, it was all him! Not sure where he learned to play the guitar behind his head, but man, he sure is entertaining!
