Fall is in the Air

Had a fun day with Evan today. We went out and picked out his Halloween costume, then played outside in the backyard for a bit. Evan likes sweeping up the leaves with a broom, then messing up the pile. It's starting to get a bit cold here now, you can sense that fall is in the air.

New Post For Friday

Evan started noticing the letters and numbers on license plates. He's pretty darn smart you know.

Fun With Photo Booth

Evan and I had some fun with the effects on the Photo Booth application on my new computer. Here are the results:

This is what Evan does when you ask him to make his funny face.

Fun Sunday

On Sunday, Evan was running around doing boy stuff, you know, like stepping on bugs and stuff...

Anyway, he wouldn't show me his dirty hands, everytime I asked him to show me his hands, he held them up and looked at them. We all slept in late, (since Evan woke up in the middle of the night and wouldn't go back to sleep!) and went for a late brunch at Ruby's Diner in Ardmore. (Think Johnny Rockets style diner.) Evan had a cheeseburger and loved watching the trains on the train track that runs around the restaurant.

Here She Is!

Genevieve and I went for her ultrasound this morning at Paoli Hospital. In typical Pete & Gen fashion, we were running late. The drive to the hospital was beginning to remind me of the time we raced to the hospital when Genevieve was in labor and about to give birth. It was a nail biting 25 minute race to get to the hospital in time for our appointment, but we made it. When the ultrasound began, the baby was quite active, moving around quite a bit. The ultrasound tech told us that she feels pretty strongly that we're having a girl. Which wasn't a surprise to me and Genevieve, because we both had a feeling. Her more so than I of course. I mean, she said it literally feels different this time. We're hoping to hear all the measurements are okay from the Doctor on Monday, but from today's ultrasound, it became apparent that we are having a little girl! We're both very excited. It was fun to change the Daddy Diaries pink today and drop "Thank heaven for little girls" as a status update on Facebook. Today was a great day.

Technical Difficulties, Please Stand By.

I'm trying to upload some new video from today, but the computer's not reading my memory card from the camera for some reason. It's getting late, so I'll have to try again tomorrow.

And now the news...

Ultrasound on Wednesday 9/16
Genevieve and I will be going to the doctor's on Wednesday for her first Ultrasound with the new baby. We're very excited about this, and we hope they'll be able to determine sex of the baby that day. We'll keep you posted. And no, we haven't really talked about names yet.

Evan's Second Concert! "They Might Be Giants" 10/21, Philadelphia
We're taking Evan to his second concert ever on 10/21, "They Might Be Giants," who for years they were a 'regular' rock band, but in recent years got into writing children's songs. (very lucrative.) Including such faves as the theme to the "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse" and "The Hot Dog Dance!" (over 28 million views on YouTube.) I'm also getting Evan some hearing protection, even though he may not need it for this concert.

Florida, Here We Come! 11/10
We've book our Florida vacation! We're headed down to Naples, FL from Nov. 10-19th. We'll be visiting his Nan & Poppy as well as the rest of the family in sunny Naples. We have tentative plans to take Evan to Disney World and I'm particularly excited about the scheduled Nov. 12th launch of the Space Shuttle Atlantis, which I'd like to go and see! (See "getting Evan some ear protection" above.)

September 11, 2009

Someday, (hopefully a long, long, time from now,) you'll ask me what happened here, and I'll have to tell you, without mincing words. I'm sure it will be difficult to understand. I'd rather you not have to hear how intolerably cruel man can be. I'd rather you never know how some people can so filled with hate, that they feel justified in taking the lives of innocent people. What I do want you to know about, is the selfless acts of courage and bravery that happened on this day. That, in the face of such imminent danger, some risked their own lives to save the lives of others without even thinking twice about it. That, after such a horrific event, so many people put their differences aside and tried to do whatever they could to help. This time every September, I'm reminded of what I saw and experienced that day, and how for better or worse, made me who I am today. While I pause to remember those who were lost with a heavy heart, I also give thanks, and my heart is filled with gratitude that somehow I made it out of there without getting hurt, and years later, was given the gift of being your father, (and your brother or sister's father.)

14 weeks??

Hey everybody!! It's Genevieve. Just wanted to let everyone know that I went to the doctor's today, and the doc thinks I'm about 14 weeks pregnant. So that would give us a due date between late February and early March. I'm scheduled for an ultrasound next wednesday to tell how far along I really am. Maybe we'll be able to tell if it's a girl or a boy??? I hope so! I also heard the baby's heart beat today, the doctor had no problem finding it and it came through loud and clear! This is all very exciting for us!!

Just Before Bedtime

Evan was running around outside tonight just before bedtime, burning off some energy.

He also heard an airplane, and wanted to show Mommy & Daddy.

Even wants to show everyone his headstand.

Taking time to smell the flowers.
