Feeling the Heat

The first heat wave of the summer is coming through, and with temperatures near 100 degrees, Evan and Eliana have been cooling of in their little backyard pool, and spending some time indoors in the air condition as well.

Balloon Festival!

Mommy was at work all day yesterday, so I had to figure out something fun to do with the kids. So I did a little research online and found out about the Chester County Balloon Festival in PA. So we got our picnic cooler together, saddled up in the car, and headed out to see what the festival was all about.
Evan and Eliana play near a giant oak at the Chester County Balloon Festival yesterday.

The kids got to spend some time with pigs from a group that rescues them and adopts them out as pets. Of course they wanted one, so they asked Poppop when they got home.

The loved the American Flag truck that brought one of the balloons.

There was a balloon laying on it's side, that was filled with air by a large fan, the kids were allowed to go inside and play, very cool!

Here we are inside the balloon!

Playing inside of the balloon was so much fun!

Pretty girl!

Eliana capturing a balloon.

Evan 'holding' the balloon over his head.

A rare pose by Eliana. She was really quiet all day, but she seemed to be having a really good time. I think she was just taking it all in.

Watching the balloons take flight!

Afterwards on the way home it was all quiet in the car, Evan says, "What a fun day!"

Evan trying to give Eliana a kiss.

This about sums it up. Best friends.

Monster Truck Awesomeness!

I heard the big Monster Truck Show was in town this weekend, so I went on Stubhub and snagged some of the last tickets left for the "Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam Thunder Nationals" on Saturday and I don't know who was more excited, me, or Evan! This was a first for both of us, so we got there nice and early, and Evan wanted to go right to our seats. We had about an hour before any real action started, but when the trucks came roaring out in the opening 'parade,' Evan was in awe.

Evan waiting for the Monster Trucks to come roaring out.

Evan's favorite, the Hot Wheels Monster Truck takes flight during the early races, with Spiderman hitting the jump on the other side of the field at the same time. The Hot Wheels truck later flipped and burst into flames. Don't worry, no one was hurt, I think.

The "Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam Thunder Nationals"as they like to call it, was held at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. Evan had a blast. We were there nearly 5 hours and when it was all over, he said, "but I don't want to leave!"

Evan's favorite, "Grave Digger." It was all about Grave Digger. Clearly the star of the show.

The Spiderman truck catching some serious air.

This one landed about ten rows back in the stands.

One of the many wrecks tonight. "Mohawk Warrior" took a tumble. Crew come speeding out on 'Gators' (They're like golf carts,) and a whole bunch of CAT heavy equipment vehicles come out and flip the trucks back over, and tow them out if need be. While this is going on, A pickup truck drives around the stadium with two men in the back, firing t-shirts into the crowd from a t-shirt cannon.

What a great night. Like I said, Evan didn't want to leave. He wanted to go to Target immediately, (even though it was 11pm,) and buy the Hot Wheels Monster Truck set.

Another one of Evan's favorites, Captain America!

Evan's Birthday Party at Chuck E. Cheese

We had a small family birthday party to celebrate Evan's 4th Birthday on Monday, just as he wanted it. We asked if we wanted to invite all his friends from school, but he said he just wanted his family there.

A Day at the Playground With Daddy

Had so much fun with the kids on Sunday at one of their favorite playgrounds. It has a big wooden structure that the kids can climb on, a big sand box, and some nature trails that lead to a creek. Perfect for skipping rocks, or in my kid's case. Throwing the biggest rocks they can lift of the ground to make the biggest splash possible.

One of the few fleeting moments I can get these two in the same frame!

Precious.

Getting down to business. Building a castle.

Evan hurls a giant rock into the creek.

Payoff!

Look what I found Daddy!

Magic light.
