Evan's 1st Haircut!!

Evan had his first real haircut tonight! (I don't think me trimming his hair while he's asleep really counts). Evan's super fabulous Godmother Aunt Andi turned my little little curly locked baby into a real boy. He looks so handsome. I thought it was going to be a disaster since he only had a half hour nap and was super grouchy. When Andi first started to cut his hair he really was not liking it at all and did start to cry a bit. I thought oh, no, this is going to be horrible. I don't know how Andi did it, but she calmed him down and by the end of the haircut I think he really enjoyed it. She asked him if he'd like to sit in a big boy booster seat, but he wanted to sit with Pop Pop, she gave him a pretzel and skipped the cover up cape, and was extra gentle and sweet to him. She was amazing, and did an amazing job. I even brought a bag of Dum Dum lollipops to keep him occupied and distracted just in case. So a pretzel and two lollipops later and voila! he was done. Of course when we got home he was super hyper after having so many lollipops (two at the salon, then two more on the way home) and being super excited about his haircut that he didn't get to bed till 11. He kept checking himself out in the mirror. He was even in the kitchen with Pop Pop and said, "Hold on, I'll be right back, I have to check something." And went right over to the mirror to check out his new haircut again. I think he is really pleased with how it turned out. Doesn't he look handsome?

Eliana at 4 Months

Fighting off 90+ degree heat and mosquitos, we were able to get a few nice shots of Eliana this evening.

Ouchy

Evan got a pretty bad burn on his finger tip on Saturday when he touched a hot lightbulb. It must have really hurt because he was crying for quite some time.  At first we thought it was going to be an emergency room trip, but once we got some cold water and ice on it, he seemed to be okay. He now has a huge blister on his finger tip covered by Spongebob Band Aids.

Evan, 1 Month to 24 Months

It took a while, but here it is; a photo of Evan each month for 24 months. Sometimes fun, sometimes difficult, always with love. I'm so proud of him, that I can't even find the words. It's been amazing to watch him grow. This definitely brings a tear to Daddy's eye...

Evan at 2 Years

Evan at 2 Years Old.

What a crazy shoot today. We got everything set up outside with ominous looking black clouds lurking in the background. We were able to shoot for about 10 minutes when we heard a sound. I'm looking through the camera thinking, "what is that?" I looked over my left shoulder, and you could see a wall of rain approaching about 3 houses down. We started getting hit with raindrops the size of quarters. "Grab Evan!" Mommy yelled as she scooped up Eliana out of her bouncy chair. I snatched up Evan with my camera slung over my shoulder and we all ran into the house as the downpour came thrashing down. My stands were out there as well as the white background paper, but only the paper laying on the ground got  soaked. So we only got a few shots today, but I think we got some good ones.

Kids Are Asleep

And I'm STARVING! It's midnight on a Saturday, but I'm thinking about sneaking out to the grocery store to get some goodies.

My Sweetie

Genevieve went to work The Roots Family Picnic today at the Festival Pier in Philadelphia, and I got to stay home with the babies and be Mr. Mom. You'd be surprised, it went very well. I didn't get much accomplished, but we had a nice day, including a 2 HOUR nap with both kids. It's been kinda hot, so we spent most of the day in the house. Evan and I didn't go out to play until after dinner, when it was much cooler. The only problem then, is the gnats!

Special Treats

Tonight was the first time I heard Eliana laughing out loud while she was awake and it was the best sound ever.  Thanks to her cousin Frankie, he had her laughing out loud tonight after dinner.  He has a way with babies and with dogs too.  He can make the baby talk up a storm, laugh out loud and even make Elvis "howl" like no one else can.  We've heard Eliana laugh in her sleep but she's never laughed while awake like she was tonight.  It was a very special treat.

Speaking of special treats, Evan had his very first Rita's water ice.  Daddy took Evan and Elvis in the car down to Rita's and they came back with some very yummy yummy water ice.  I think Evan enjoyed it, what do you think?

Evan was enjoying a Cherry Rita's Water Ice on a hot sunny day.

Birthday Morning -post by Mommy

Wow.  What an exhausting day it was today.  But so well worth every second of it.  It was my baby boy's 2nd birthday.  I can't believe Evan is already two years old.  I can't believe Evan is only two years old.  I think the main reason that today was so exhausting was because Evan was up at 5 am this morning.  That and the fact that we're still recovering from this awful cold that we both caught.  Pete and I were up all night planning and preparing for Evan's birthday.  I thought it would be so great for him to wake up on the morning of his birthday to a room full of balloons.  I just didn't realize that he'd be up at 5 am!  He usually sleeps till around 9, but his sister, who usually wakes up when the sun comes up and the birds start chirping, woke him up this morning.  Usually I can get her to go back to sleep, but when she opened her little eyes and saw all of the balloons her little legs started kicking and she started waving her arms in the air, she was so excited.  I knew right away that I had to get her out of the room before she really started her cooing and squealing and waking up her brother.  I made it to the doorway when I saw a little tousled haired boy sit up in his cribby.  I was holding my breath trying not to make a sound hoping he'd lay back down.  He sat for a minute then pointed up to one of the balloons and in a quiet sleepy voice said "smiley face!" and I knew there was no getting him back to bed any time soon.  I'm glad that the first balloon he saw was the smiley faced one.  The second smiley face he saw was his little sisters.  He reached out for her, held her little face and gave her the nicest kiss a sleepy kid can with a binky still in his mouth.  It felt like Christmas morning.  Eliana and I just hung out on the bed while Evan danced around his room playing with his balloons.  We ended the morning with "breakfast" in bed, and topped it off by going back to sleep.  It was so much fun.
What do you mean it's too early for drums?
Evan's birthday "breakfast" in bed:  2 bottles, 2 night light buddies, 1 juice cup, 2 binkies, 1 bedtime story, Brobee, and strawberries.
