Wintry Spring

Mommy took some great photos of Evan and Eliana at the playground today. It's been freezing cold here ever since we got a little taste of Spring last week. I was up in New York for work all week and it even snowed up there twice, after it being 77 degrees one day last week. Anyway, looking at these photos makes me realize how big they are getting, and how fast it's happening.

Sweet Birthday Party!

Here's a sampling of some of the decorations we did for Eliana's Birthday Party. When I say "we," I mean Genevieve. I had more of a "helping" role. Above is Eliana's birthday cake that Genevieve made. Red velvet cake with raspberry icing and edible flowers and butterflies. (Yeah, it was really, really good.)

Butterfly and flower crystals hanging from the chandelier.

Eliana's cake and lollipops.

Butterfly with pink roses.

Ceramic roses as "Thank You" gifts.
I made this sign by hand I'll have you know! More pictures from the party tomorrow. For now, BED!

Party Pooped.

Thanks to all who were able to make it to Eliana's First Birthday Party. Seemed like everyone enjoyed themselves, Eliana included. A lot of work went into putting this party together and we had some big help from Nana and Poppop, so, thank you. We've been up for nearly 2 days now, so Mommy and I are going to try and get some much needed rest. 'Til the next party!

Party Preparations

Yes, the big day is tomorrow, (actually, today, in a few hours. )Eliana's First Birthday Party. Delayed nearly a month due to her and Evan being sick, but tomorrow's her big day. It's nearly 4am and there's still plenty of work to do. Genevieve went to bed for a few hours, and the kids just went to sleep not that long ago. (They both had really, really long naps.) Anyway, still lots of running around to do in the morning, some cooking, baking, etc. By the time the party starts, Genevieve and I will be looking for a place to take a nap. All worthwhile though, should be a fun day. Not as warm as today, (75,) but at least it's going to be sunny and 56.

Yo Gabba Gabba News!

Yo Gabba Gabba Season 4! will begin production this summer. Probably not big news to most, but it's huge news around this house. We've been watching reruns for quite sometime, wondering if there was ever going to be a new Yo Gabba Gabba episode. It seemed as if the show's future was in jeopardy when there was no news of Nickelodeon ordering a 4th season of Evan and Eliana's favorite show. There was news that they even had to shut down their production office, which didn't seem like a good sign. We thought our favorite show was just going to disappear forever, so we were glad to hear the news tonight that they had been picked up for a 4th season, and we're looking forward to seeing some new episodes in the fall.

Fun Monday

Evan has been expressing an interest in the drums lately. He's been asking if we can go to the "drum store," which, I guess is any music store that carries drums. Today we were at the Sam Ash in Philadelphia, and I let Evan sit down at a kid's Ludwig Drum Set. Needless to say, I think he's hooked. We must have spent about an hour in there just trying out all the drums. Evan liked that the drum head said "Evans" on it. (Evans is a brand of drum head.)

Mommy took this shot of Evan with a giant magnifying glass.

Late Nite with Eliana

Was up until 3:30am last night with Eliana. We suspect she may have some down with Croup, which is supposed to be worse at night, and last night it was. She was just getting over being sick, and now she's sick again. Looks like more late nights ahead. I hope she's better soon.

Haircut

Before                                                                         After

Evan had his (3rd) Haircut with Aunt Andi today. His hair got pretty long since his last haircut Nov. 5th, and it was time to get another trim. He was such a good boy, you'd think he'd been going to salons to get his haircut for years, he just sat there, cool as a cucumber, enjoying his haircut.

March

March came in as expected, with erratic weather, but we've had a few nice days sandwiched in between the unrelenting cold of winter. These days, we'll take anything above 45 degrees as a reason to go outside. Now that the kids seem to be getting over being sick, I wanted to take them out to get some playtime in, but then I got sick. So we didn't get out until late afternoon and had only about an hour before the sun set and it started getting cold again.

The long shadows of Winter. Soon it will be Spring, and we'll be out every single day, but for now, we try to cram as many sports in as possible before dinner. Here, we're playing some sort of tennis/baseball hybrid.

Eliana stayed inside. She was just getting over being sick and we didn't want to chance bringing her out. She watched Evan and I play from the glass door. Come one Spring! We're getting impatient here.
