Day in the Park

Taking a break for some juice.

That look on his face is priceless.

One of Mommy's great photos.

I look like I'm suspicious of paprazzi.

The weather's been pretty nice (60's) for late fall, almost December up here in the Northeast, (with the exception of today, rain.) So we spent some time at the local playground letting Evan have some fun while it's still warm enough to play outside. Evan's been going up the steps and down the slide all by himself, and goes on the slide over and over again, until Mommy and Daddy need a nap
.
Tonight's bedtime story...

Story Time

Photo: Mommy.

Tonight we started story time at bedtime. Evan got all cozied up in his new bed, and I read him one of my childhood favorites, "Pete's First Day at School," which, I looked up on Ebay, was going for $60! Evan really enjoyed me reading to him, and liked looking at all the pictures. I think we're going to make this a nightly thing at bedtime when daddy is home. Going through some of Genevieve's old books, she had many of the same that I did as a child, I realized how many of my books went missing over the years. Either thrown out, given away, sold at garage sales, who even knows. So I'm starting to put together a little collection of bedtime story books for Evan and his future sister. We had fun tonight, can't wait to read to him again tomorrow!

Daddy's Photo Shoot

So I did a fashion shoot at the end of August in New York for Joseph Kauffman, a clothing company from Israel. Here's the final edited photos on the Joseph Kauffman website.
Click on the link or photos to see the website. I'm kind of proud of the work, I'm only hoping to get better with my photography.

Homemade Applesauce

'Twas the night before Thanksgiving...
We spent the early evening preparing for Thanksgiving Dinner at the Lambert's house tomorrow night. Grandkids Ava, Frankie, and Evan all helped make the homemade applesauce.

'Moon'

Evan looked up at the sky tonight, pointed, and said, 'Moon.' I did not teach him this.

They Might Be Giants

(Thanks, Jean!) Evan and his cousin Mike play in the confetti

Man, we're hardly home for a day, and we're off to another event! We took Evan to see his 2nd ever concert, They Might Be Giants at the TLA on South Street in Philadelphia. (Mommy used to work there years ago!) Evan had such a good time. There was lots of confetti blasted out in to the crowd.

News

The photos from Disney and out Florida trip will be posted on Flickr this evening.

In other (sad) news. A dear member of the family, Misty, has passed away. Our thoughts go out the Burke family in NJ. She will be missed. She had a heart of gold. I always loved seeing her when visiting Paul & Shari's house.

Flying Home

Flew home to Philly from Ft. Myers last night. Pretty uneventful flight. I think the family behind us had a harder time with their toddlers that we did with Evan. What a trip we had! So much fun. It was great seeing my family, and Evan got to spend some quality time with his Nan and Poppy. Evan keeps talking about the fireworks and even tried to dew them on his chalkboard. (I got him a stand up easel/chalkboard from Ikea.) We're settling back to normal life now, post-vacation reality. Looking forward to another trip to Florida next year. I'd like to get down there and see the next Shuttle Launch Feb 4th! But, we'll have to see about that.

Space Shuttle Atlantis: Liftoff!

On Monday, we drove from Orlando to Titusville to check out the launch of Space Shuttle Atlantis. It was a completely awesome experience. I mean literally, we were in awe.

Play Ball!

Daddy, give me the ball!
Ohhhh

The windup...

The pitch...is in for a strike!

Gearing Up for Atlantis and Disney World!

Magic Kingdom from our 2006 Honeymoon Trip.

Atlantis STS-129 Crew set to go for a 2:28pm launch on Monday, 11/16.

The next few days are going to be pretty wild for us. We're renting a car on Sunday and driving to Orlando for Evan's first ever trip to Walt Disney World! I know he's going to have a complete blast! If that's not enough, we're heading to Titusville to watch the Space Shuttle Atlantis blast off from the Kennedy Space Center on Cape Canaveral! We have a spot reserved at someone's backyard, facing the water across the Indian River from the Cape. We'll be approximately 10-12 miles from Launch Pad 39-A and we'll have a clear view as the Space Shuttle clears the tower and blasts off into orbit. This launch will not only be a first for Evan, but a first for ALL of us! We brought ear protection for Evan, of course. I'm just hoping the noise is not a traumatic experience for him. After the launch it's back to our hotel in Disney. On Tuesday, we'll probably visit another park before the long drive back to Naples. We're due to fly back to Philadelphia on Thursday 11/19. So, we want to pack as much fun in as possible!

Naples Zoo

While Mommy and Aunt Dawn went out to lunch today, Daddy and Evan went to the Zoo in Naples, Florida. We had a really good time checking out the parrots, monkeys, alligators, lions, snakes, and one really cool leopard!

Turkey in the Straw

Evan having some fun with cousins (L-R) Taylor, Emily, and Chandler dancing to a turkey that sings "Turkey in the Straw."

We didn't do too much today, the weather down here in South Florida was similar to the weather we had when we left Philadelphia, (Cloudy and 66 degrees today, very chilly for Naples.) We managed to have fun anyway. Did some shopping, got some great deals on t-shirts for Evan at Target; The Who, Jimi Hendrix, Superman, Batman, Paul Frank (Monkey), and Ghostbusters to name a few. Evan's having a great time so far and has really warmed up to his family down here in Florida.

Flying

Evan enjoying his new Handy Manny coloring book on his way to Florida this afternoon...

We had an interesting flight to say the least. Everything was going great, we were on time, got on board right behind the "A Group," and into the jetway. As we're getting on the plane, I'm saddled down with my huge camera backpack, and Evan's massive Orbit stroller set up. Genevieve's in front of me holding Evan and the diaper bag. As we're walking down the aisle, there's this HUGE guy sitting in the aisle seat. He obviously had to board early because of his massive size. So as Genevieve's trying to get around this guy, her bag gets stuck, and she stops. Not seeing this, I attempt to lift the car seat over the massive, hulking man, striking Genevieve directly in the back of the head with the car seat. I hit her so hard, it drew a gasp from the nearby passengers. I'm not even sure if anyone (besides me) asked her if she was okay. I think I may have even hit Evan with the car seat, I'm not sure, but he started crying right away.

So we went from everything being normal to complete chaos. Genevieve said it went black for a second when I hit her with the car seat. What a nightmare. I was so embarrassed (for myself.) Finally, we get seated somewhere near the back of the plane, and I can't apologize to Genevieve enough. It was a really, really bad moment. The sweat was pouring off of my head in epic fashion.

Evan was good for most of the flight. I was worried about his ears since he's just getting over an ear infection from a month or so ago. He was perfectly fine. Thank God. He had his cranky moments, but we were able to distract him for long enough to get his mind off of how tired/bored/uncomfortable he was. He finally fell asleep with 20 minutes left in the (3 hour) flight. We arrived in Florida to cloudy skies, but nice and warm. Looking forward to relaxing (if that's even possible for me) down here in South Florida.

Florida Soon!

I've been telling Evan that we're going on an airplane to go see his Nan and Poppy, but I don't think he quite knows what I mean yet. If he new what we have planned, I'm sure he'd be very, very excited.

96 Days To Go

Not sure if anyone noticed, but the baby ticker on the right was at 104 days just a few minutes ago. Genevieve's due date is now February 12th, which is 8 days sooner than we were originally expecting. So we're now under 100 days, it's incredible how fast this is going. Genevieve has said that this baby has been really active, she kicks quite a bit and seems more active, earlier than Evan was.
